Ministry

We have many opportunities for you to become involved at Lockport. If you have a heart for children, volunteer in the nursery or as a Sunday School Teacher. Want to grow with like-minded others? Join our women’s Bible Study, a Sunday School Class, or Men’s Fellowship. These are just a few options available – come join us and discover where you fit in at Lockport Mennonite Church!

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY
Our desire is for each child who steps into this church to feel the love and grace of Jesus Christ. From nursery to grade 4, our Children’s Ministry seeks to help children grow in their relationships. Programs include nursery, Sunday school, Vacation Bible School and church camp.

Summer Youth Activities
Lockport hosts Vacation Bible School for elementary-aged kids the week after July 4th. Children from the church and the community are invited to attend. We also encourage our families to participate in church camps throughout the summer. In June, our bus is full of kids and teens headed for Little Eden Camp in Onekema, MI.

YOUTH MINISTRY
Junior MYF is for middle school age students – grades 5-8. They meet Sunday mornings and during the week for Bible study, activities, food and fellowship.

Mennonite Youth Fellowship (MYF) is our high-school age youth group. They meet on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm in the fellowship hall of the church. MYF does a variety of activities throughout the year and rotates between service nights, faith nights, and social nights.

Lockport Lifeplanning
As each youth enters ninth grade, he/she is invited to choose an adult from the congregation to be a mentor for them through their high school years. This adult builds a special connection to the youth, to encourage them spiritually and to walk beside them as a role model.

ADULT MINISTRY
Each Sunday, following our morning worship service, we offer a number of Adult Sunday School classes. Beginning at 10:30, the classes range from Bible study, prayer, fellowship and more. Throughout the week there are a number of other opportunities to get involved.

During the fall and winter our Ladies Bible Study meets in the fellowship hall to study and share with one another. All women are invited to attend.

Mennonite Women encourages women to nurture their life in Christ, study the Bible, utilize their gifts, hear each other, and engage in mission and service. We support a number of local organizations by utilizing our God-given gifts through sewing, quilting, knotting comforters, and supplying items for school bags, and infant and health kits to be sent locally and around the world.

Men’s Fellowship is an avenue in our community to show God’s love to our fellow man. Our focus is to reinvigorate this special time of fellowship for the men of our church and to invite friends and acquaintances to enjoy an activity together.

The Women’s Prayer Group meets every week beginning with the first Tuesday in May through the last Tuesday in August to meet the need for prayer and for ladies’ fellowship during the summer.
